The Problem

The signs are on your wall already.

Rising damp shows itself in predictable ways — usually near floor level, and usually worse in the rainy season.

Blistered and peeling paint on a damp wall
01

Peeling paint

Paint film lifts and blisters as moisture pushes through from behind the surface.

White salt deposits and failed paint along the lower section of an exterior wall
02

Salt deposits

White, powdery salts (efflorescence) crystallise on the surface as damp walls dry out.

Crumbling plaster and flaking paint just above the skirting of an interior wall
03

Damaged plaster

Render turns soft, crumbly or hollow-sounding, often up to a metre above floor level.

A tide line of damp staining rising from the floor on an interior wall
04

Persistent damp near the floor

A visible tide line or constantly damp band that returns no matter how often it's painted over.

Brown damp staining and salt patches on the lower part of a wall above tiling
05

Staining and discolouration

Yellow-brown staining spreads across the lower wall, often with patches of salt where moisture evaporates.

Dark, damp and cracked render at the base of an exterior wall
06

Cracked, deteriorating render

Repeated wetting and drying darkens and cracks the render at the base of the wall until it begins to break down.

Understanding the Problem

What is rising damp, really?

Masonry walls draw moisture up from the ground through tiny capillary channels within the block or brickwork — much like a wick drawing water upward. Without an effective barrier, that moisture keeps rising, carrying dissolved ground salts with it.

As the water evaporates from the wall surface, the salts are left behind — driving the paint failure, plaster damage and staining that homeowners notice first. The higher the moisture rises, the more restoration work is eventually needed.

A correctly diagnosed rising damp problem calls for a chemical damp-proof course — a barrier introduced into the wall itself, below the point damp is entering — paired with a wall reinstatement system designed to manage residual ground salts.

What is StopDamp+?

StopDamp+ is a professional rising damp treatment system for masonry walls. An advanced injection cream is injected into drilled holes in the mortar course to form a chemical damp-proof course inside the wall. BaseShield then protects the lower wall, and StopDamp+ Cement Mix, an anti-salt damp-proof additive, protects the new plaster. Together they form a proven long-lasting system.

Who is StopDamp+ for?

StopDamp+ is for homeowners dealing with peeling paint, salt deposits or damp near the floor; building contractors and plasterers who need a reliable damp-proofing method; and property maintenance companies managing damp across several buildings. SoAqua Solutions supplies the products, offers diagnosis support and trains installers to apply the full system.

The StopDamp+ System

One coordinated system, not a single product.

Injection Cream, BaseShield and StopDamp+ Cement Mix work together as a complete treatment — from establishing the damp-proof barrier to reinstating the wall above it.

How It Works

Seven stages, one continuous process.

Every StopDamp+ installation follows the same sequence — from removing damaged plaster to a finished, reinstated wall.

Why StopDamp+

Built for the way masonry walls behave here.

✓

Designed for rising damp

A treatment system engineered specifically to address capillary rising damp in masonry walls — not a general-purpose sealant.

✓

Cartridge application

Applied with a standard caulking gun for controlled, consistent dosing along the treatment line.

✓

A complete system

Injection, moisture shielding and reinstatement are designed to work together, not sold as disconnected products.

✓

Practical installation

A clear, repeatable seven-stage process suited to sandcrete block and masonry construction.

✓

Appropriate for local conditions

Formulated for masonry performance in humid building environments.

✓

Technical support

Guidance from assessment through to reinstatement, backed by BBA Agrément certification.

Project Proof

Proven on a real project.

A genuine StopDamp+ installation, not a staged demonstration.

Continuous corridor treatment line
Anchor Project

A 255-metre corridor treatment

A long, continuous run of internal corridor walls showing classic rising damp symptoms — tide-lined plaster, surface salts and recurring paint failure along ground-floor sections.

The full StopDamp+ sequence was applied along the entire run: damaged plaster removed, the injection line drilled and dosed, BaseShield applied to the lower wall, and the corridor reinstated with StopDamp+ Cement Mix.

Diagnosis First

Not every damp wall is rising damp.

Treating the wrong cause wastes time and money. Here's how to tell the difference.

Rising Damp

  • Concentrated near floor level, rarely above ~1m
  • Tide-line staining, often with salt deposits
  • Present year-round, worse in wet season
  • Treated with a chemical damp-proof course

Penetrating Damp

  • Can appear at any height on the wall
  • Linked to a specific defect — cracked render, leaking gutter, poor pointing
  • Often localised to one patch or wall
  • Treated by fixing the source defect

Condensation

  • Common in poorly ventilated rooms — bathrooms, kitchens
  • Surface moisture, black mould, no tide line
  • Changes with season and ventilation habits
  • Treated by improving ventilation, not injection
